Working hours

There are no specific regulations when it comes to the au pair’s number of working hours in some of the country like Canada, New Zealand, Sweden, United states.
However, from our experience we recommend that you work 25 to 30 hours per week.
The host family can ask you to do some babysitting up to 3 evenings per week which should be included in your working time.

Free time

As an au pair, you are entitled to at least one day off per week and at least one whole weekend a month. You can choose your day off in agreement with your family. However, if you need a specific day off due to your religious convictions, the host family will have to respect your choice.

Spare time

As an au pair, you are entitled to at least one day off per week. In this context, the family’s life and housekeeping requirements and the au pair’s needs are to be taken into consideration.
